This is a media advisory I wrote during my internship with Resolute PR for their client 12&12 to generate public awareness of a community forum they were hosting.
What: 12&12 Inc. and OSU Medical School are hosting Community Forum on Addiction and Treatment. This will include a panel discussion on what addiction is, how it affects our community and how we can help those address it.
Who: 12&12 Incorporated is the largest non-profit addiction treatment facility in the four-state area offering residential and outpatient treatment services for substance abuse and mental health issues.
Oklahoma State University Medical School Department of Behavioral Health is co-hosting this event with 12&12.
Panelists include representatives from Mental Health Association of Oklahoma, State of Oklahoma Dept. of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services and Oklahoma State University.
This forum is open to all Tulsans.
Where: OSU Health Sciences Center Campus
1111 W. 17th St. Room 107
When: Thursday, June 8, 3:30-5:30 p.m.
Why: In 2016, national deaths from drug overdoses exceeded the number of deaths from HIV/AIDS even as the AIDS crisis peaked. Drug overdose has risen to the leading cause of accidental death in the US. Significant progress in addressing substance abuse can only be made if communities understand how addiction affects their citizens and the community as a whole.
Coverage: There will be visuals of the panelists’ presentation and their engagement with the audience. Interviews with each of the panelists will be available as well as the community members who attend.
